Hi, Ladies!

Ok, so I don’t know exactly when I started losing my hair. It was always thinner and fine. Sometime after a bad perm in 1993 is when I started noticing it more and more. It’s mostly in the bang area and on the sides, both areas going back about 3 inches. It’s as if 3-4 hairs are missing for every one that is there. scalp is very visible if I don’t style it correctly.
I was tested several years ago for hypothyroidism and was told I was healthy. I also suffer from migraines, constipation, lethargy and a host of other minor problems. My MD just treated them individually. I didn’t get much better.
Monday I went to a new MD, a DO actually, and after going through my history and checking me over, he decided that checking my thyroid function would be valid. He also checked my antibodies. I was really expecting to hear that I was "healthy" but was shocked to hear that while my TSH was 1.82 (normal range) my antibodies were 4, 144. Anything over 60 is positive for the antibody. So, it’s official….I have Hashimoto’s disease. All of my symptoms can be explained with this diagnosis.
I have now started 50 mcg. levothyroxine once daily and will run another lab in 6 weeks to see what my values look like.
I’m getting most of the information I need online but not what I really want to know…..my hair loss. What’s going to happen now? Will I get it back? Will it get worse? Has anyone else had a similar situation to mine?
